James entered the Financial Services industry in 1986, upon completing his sixth year at school.
He joined the Sales Support division of Prudential, in it's then Glasgow Regional Office based in Renfield Street, working with the Area Operations Manager and supporting the numerous Financial Advisers in the rapidly developing Financial Services industry.
He progressed internally and became a Financial Consultant in 1991 specialising in the Company's Corporate Affinity sector. He was one of the first wave of Financial Consultants to pass the industry's fledgling Financial Planning Certificate qualification in 1995 / 96.
He joined the Recruitment industry in 1998, progressing with a National firm to become Branch Manager of the Company's Edinburgh office.
In 2005, he set up RecruitingUK with his long term colleague and friend Campbell Craig, with whom he first worked at the Prudential Regional Office in Glasgow.
In 2008, he attained Fellow status within the recruitment industry.

Campbell also entered the Financial Services industry from school, in 1987.
He worked alongside James in the Sales Support division of Prudential Assurance company in Glasgow
He became a successful Financial Adviser in 1991, achieving numerous New Entrant awards, before joining the Recruitment industry in 1992 where he has consistently excelled.
His success was recognised and rewarded with numerous promotions, culminating in becoming Regional Director of a National Specialist Recruitment Company, overseeing sector operations in Scotland and Northern Ireland
He attained the industry Fellow status in 2005 and is widely regarded as one of the country's foremost figures in Financial Services recruitment.
Campbell is keen golfer and is a member of his local golf club. When he isn't playing golf he follows his second passion (or third after Recruitment) which is football, following his beloved Partick Thistle.
